Birthdays are Good Reflection Time

A friend once asked me, “Kene, when’s your birthday?”

I quipped, “Mid-May.”

Evasive and indirect, for certain. He and I still laugh about it.

(It’s May 16.)

I was not always as open to sharing and being vulnerable as I am now.

Getting comfortable with my imperfections and development areas; silencing the deceptive thoughts inside of me that discouraged straying outside of familiar territory; learning how to be more emotionally-available and connect with others in a way that allowed them to feel valued and understood.

These were all abilities I’ve struggled with at some point in time, just like many of you reading this.

With time and dedicated effort, I’ve evolved for the better.

And you can, too.

Every minute is an opportunity to turn it around….to go after what you really want. Maybe something you thought you could never attain or did not quite deserve.

Birthdays are always a good time for reflection. With mine on the horizon, I think about what I want to see more of going forward.

“As I continue to discover who I am, I’m drifting apart from my old friends; I feel lonely.”

“I’m thankful for my job, but I feel like something is missing.”

“I’m still healing from the end of my last relationship.”

I’ve heard these sentiments all too often and I’m throwing my energy into providing solutions for those looking for answers.

That last one, on recovering from a broken relationship, will be a featured topic in a yet-to-be released podcast appearance. Look out for it in the near future.

So, if you or someone you know is interested in any of the following:

1) One-on-One or Group Coaching

2) Workshops

3) Speaking Opportunities (podcasts appearances, keynotes etc.)

In these areas….

1) Leadership Development: Conflict Resolution, Effective Communication, Organizing and Leading a Group

2) Personal Development: Social Skill Development, Beating Shyness and Building Confidence, Finding the Right Relationship (or healing from a bad one)

I’m always grateful to hear about it. 👍

And do let me know if anything I’ve shared recently has resonated with you (or, if there is something I can help you with).

When you share your thoughts and ask for what you want, you’d be surprised how often others are willing to help.
